External input stream instance is null
I had previously successfully installed and set up a UMS 9.7.2 server on my Ubuntu 16.04 machine. After not using it for a month or two, I started getting an error whenever I'd try to play any file from my LG WebOS TV, or the VLC app on my phone, namely:
19:45:32 ERROR External input stream instance is null... stopping process
19:45:32 ERROR There is no inputstream to return for blah...
I downloaded the most recent version, 9.8.1, made sure to follow the installation steps again, and also deleted my ~/.config/UMS folder. I still get the same error. I've attached the zip of my logs/confs.

Hi, thanks for the post. Does the file fail to play on the LG TV, or is it just an error in the logs?

Hi! Thanks for the reply. It fails to play on both the TV and VLC on my phone.
