[Solved] UMS 4.0.2 - Issues with Sony Bravia W Series

Post by Maniac » Fri Aug 08, 2014 8:10 pm

Maniac wrote:Since upgrading to the v4 releases UMS no longer works with my Sony Bravia KDL-46W905A. Videos can be seen listed as available but when you select a video to play it looks like it's about to start but just displays a black screen. If there is another video to play it attempts to play that but does the same thing. This is most prevalent with MP4 files. Playback on PS3 remains functional.

To try and assist in resolving the issue I elected to reset my config during the install of 4.0.2 and upgraded to Java 8 but playback continues to be an issue. All was fine in the last release of v3.
As mentioned in the Announcements section (quoted above) please find attached the debug files created after recreating the above issue.
This attachment is from the non-working v4.0.2 - one further observation is that in this version the files are shown as M2TS when they are MP4 files

This attachment is from the working v3.6.2 - in this version the files are correctly shown as MP4 files

An example video that fails to work can be downloaded here http://videos.revision3.com/revision3/w ... d=tekzilla

Thanks for the logs, Maniac :) Can you please try replacing C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\renderers\BraviaW.conf with the one attached and see if it's still a problem?

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated!

I'm afraid that the new config file didn't make any difference and things remained as they were.

Copy and paste this and replace the BraviaW.conf file...

Code: Select all

If it still does not work Try replacing the "TranscodeVideo=MPEGPS-MPEG2-AC3" line with "TranscodeVideo=MPEGTS-MPEG2-AC3"
Theres a couple of things that have changed since 3.62 but due to myself also having a bravia set this should work if it is the config file and not the program itself causing issues.

Thanks for testing the config. I've uploaded 3 test versions, if you could let me know which of them has the bug that would be great:

I've tried out all three and I'm afraid all of them has the bug. I also tried modifying the braviaw.conf file as Paradox suggested but the videos still don't play. As I said before in the v4 releases these videos are being shown as M2TS container videos rather than MP4 which is correct. I've re-installed 3.6.4 again and can confirm that they are then shown as MP4 container videos that file.

I've taken debug files for all of the test versions you supplied in case it helps.

Out of curiosity take that config i posted and remove/delete everything from "# Supported video formats" down. It will be interesting to see if the "MediaInfo=true" which is set in the config helps things.

I can confirm that this issue has now been resolved in this build. Sorry for how long it's taken to respond but I've been away from a decent internet connection for a week!
