"no inputstream to return" and mencoder started twice

Post by elpetak »

Hi all,
I'm stuck and need help.
Not sure why this started to happen. Maybe it was that I upgraded PMS (then unisntalled and moved to UMS) or maybe it was some Windows Update or it may even be the PS3 firmware update.
Everything was working fine before and now it fails every time.

I won't list all the things I've tried because this post would never end.
But this is what I did recently on my Windows 7 machine:

- uninstalled and deleted all traces of PMS and UMS
- uninstalled all Java stuff
- installed latest java
- installed latest UMS
- deleted all *.cache-3 files I found
- started UMS

and I still have the same issue...
UMS starts mencoder but then it reports a "no inputstream to return" error and apparently tries to start mencoder again and also fails with the same error.
That leaves me with a 800288E1 error on the PS3 and two mencoder.exe processes that are actually running and eating CPU.

Here is the a piece of the log (full logs attached) done with a file that I know it used to work in the past

Code: Select all

As you can see, Thread-97 and Thread-99 are both mencoder processes that are actually doing stuff.

I'm lost. I've tried many versions of PMS and UMS and searched the forums and I still can't find the fix for this.

Help!

Thanks!

Yes this look funny. I can see two things to try out
1) Skip the subtitles. Maybe they screw things up.
2) Try using FFmpeg instaed of mencoder to see if there is a "codec" problem.
We reject: kings, presidents and voting.
We believe in: rough consensus and running code.

I've been having the same issues as you have previously presented. Both PMS & UMS don't work at all for transcoding videos, since March 23rd. I have a Win7 PC, and both servers were runing perfectly until friday 22nd. After that I could not reproduce any other video again (even videos I've already reproduced prefectly many times, nothing worked). I checked for downloads, not much was instaled the 21st (Win update KB2670838 and some others), nothing on the 22nd, nothing on the 23rd. I've tried multiple things, none of them worked. Today read this post and tried FFmepg without subtitles and it's running again, but I need the subs, I'm from Argentina and here we need subs. I'll keep triyng, if someone finds something please post it. I'm really close to formating my PC, but I don't know if that will actually work. I have another computer runing WIN xp and PMS is working fine. Thanks in advance
