Noob Question

Post by fivecats »

Got the universal installed on windows 7. I can play back music from my Onkyo 535 ok. Is there any way to initiate media files from the pc instead of from the onkyo gui? The equivilent of wmv right click / sent to streaming command?

Thanks!

In the new 5.0 this is possible over the web and/or UMS gui.

Ufff. This thing is kicking my butt. I got the Beta installed and found the web interface - very slick - but still have the same problem. That is, i can navigate and play the music that is stored on my PC via Universal / DLNA using the Onkyo remote contol & Onkyo window. But no matter what I do on the Web interface, i can't get the the music to stream to the Onkyo from there. Just plays locally on the PC.

The Onkyo shows with a nice shiny check mark in the Universal GUI.

I must be missing something really simple. Does anyone have any ideas? All suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Please attach TRACE logs showing a play attempt from the gui and then from the web interface (preferably using the same audio file).

Thanks for your continued help. Log file attached showing 3 attempts on same file. 1) Web gui, bump, playbutton stopped after two seconds, counter stayed at zero, no sound from anwhere. 2) same result, only this time the playbutton froze grey. 3) played without bump, sound ok on local machine.

I was hoping for "4. played from gui onkyo window, sound ok on onkyo" too for comparison :). The logs show the onkyo requesting audio data and ums sending it, so it's unclear why there's no playback.

Well I went back and did that now. Played fine as always when cued from the Onkyo. I am pasting the log below - seems like maybe the problem is in the Onkyo? Looks like it was actually looping for 4 hrs after that last PC attempt earlier. But there was no sound from the Onkyo, even though its screen was set to DNLA / Universal. I am lost.
