Cannot seek forwards, possibly a rar issue?

Post by johey »

I'm new to UMS. Just got it somewhat working. A few problems where the most noticable is that I cannot seek forwards when playing a video file. I have only tried split rar files yet, which I suspect might be a reason. Just want to ask if this is by design, a bug or something I can configure?

Running it headless in GNU/Linux, streaming to either my LG WebOS tv or XBMC. Both show the same problem. The total length of the movie is undetermined. Just a few seconds left, increasing for each second until the end of the file.

Most of the UMS.conf is untouched. I've only enabled archive support, set it not to transcode dts, configured my media folder and set a name of the device.

The short version is that fast-forwarding works but it's an intensive process for the computer if the video is being transcoded, so being in a rar file probably doesn't help but it may happen anyway. Personally with my mid-range computer I can fast-forward while transcoding no problem, but it's different for different renderers.
