OS X 10.7.5 UMS-5.0.0-Java8 does not recognize *.mkv files
Hi michaelt, please follow the link in my signature to get support for this issue. If I have logs I can probably fix it very quicklySubJunk wrote:michaelt wrote:I am new to this, been playing for about a week with V4.4.0. Works surprisingly well with a few minor issues which I will post later if and only off they persist in V5.0.0. I am a Mac user and have viewed its forum.
I upgraded to V5 yesterday without any problems. It worked as well as V4 (or better?) with a much needed status improvement. I was root causing a memory leak issue which seemed to disappear with V5. Today I went to further isolate and verify UMS operating properly with no leaks when I ran into an unexpected error: the video files (.mkv) are no longer recognized. Going back to V4 works.
I am unix savvy but not Java. Any pointers or suggestions are welcome, especially if there is a better place to post this.

I ran one video through Handbrake: H-264 & MPEG-4 X mkv & mp4 => 4 files. The *.mp4's worked, the *.mkv's failed. Looks like a mkv container issue.
Oops - I just found the "Attachments" tab in the "General Help and Support" link, so here is the zip I created in day 1: hope it helps

Hi michaelt, thanks for the logs
I don't know what you mean by UMS does not recognize the files. Does that mean the files don't play on your TV, or that you can't even see them in the folder on the TV, or what?

Also can you please put the attached file into your "renderers" folder in the UMS installation directory? (/Applications/Video Utilities/Universal Media Server.app/Contents/Resources)
It might help

I can see them all. When selected I get the error message followed by the red circle-slash thereafter.SubJunk wrote:Hi michaelt, thanks for the logsI don't know what you mean by UMS does not recognize the files.
