Slow Buffering Only With Enabled Subtitles

Is there any way around this? Occurs with version 4.0.1 and 5.1.0 (OSX) which is transcoding roughly 15 GB MKVs with DTS / DD 5.1 soundtracks. If I disable subtitles, everything streams perfectly.
