[Solved] Can't Play Music after Installing 5.1.1

I tried the 2nd update for UMS 5.1.1.1 with the same results: Some mp3's played but most did not show in the list. mediainfo.dll 0.7.71.0 does now show up though.

You can try to delete all ext on the line "streamextentions" except mp3 in the "renderer.conf".
Tell me if that s working.

I have just loaded 5.1.1.1 and can confirm mediainfo is successfully loaded and my Music files are now being recognised on the PS3. Many thanks for the timely update.

Adding "StreamExtensions = mp3" to "Sony-PlayStation3.conf" did not change anything. Most of the mp3 files could would not show up.

I tried accessing a backup copy of my music on another drive. They were all accessible and played OK! I looked to see if it may be a permissions issue and matched the permissions of the backup to the original from the top folder down. However, it did not make any difference, even though all users have read/write/execute permissions to all folders and files. I still think it may be a permissions issue preventing UMS and/or mediainfo from reading the files.

I tested it. It did not even get to the point of finding the PS3. (See enclosed)
I removed the update and it found the PS3. However, I had to to click on "Restart Server" after getting the same java errors to get it to work.
Clicking on "Restart Server" multiple times with the update.jar did not work to link to the PS3. I tested in "administration" mode with the same results.

Is there a way to turn on Trace at UMS startup?
If you need more info or would like me to do more testing please let me know.

I tested the update again in windows using 5.1.1.1 and it worked ok, so not sure how you got that error. I rebuilt it anyway, just in case. Could you please test the new one with a clean install of 5.1.1.1, just so we eliminate any extraneous factors?

The update.jar appears to work OK. However, it also worked OK without it this time! I did a clean install of UMS 5.1.1.1. I was able to access all of my music mp3's and wma's in the folder that would either hide some of the files or would not play them. I had rebooted my PC before the install only because it locked up on me. I suspect there may have been a Windows 7 glitch that rebooting cleared up. Anyway, enclosed are two trace files, one with and one without update.jar added.
I am sorry that the results could not be more conclusive.

The update.jar appears to work OK. However, it also worked OK without it this time! I did a clean install... sorry that the results could not be more conclusive.

On the contrary very conclusive (in confirming that the issue wasn't related to the code in question), plus we lucked-out and accidentally resolved your issue, which isn't bad . Thx for testing, will compare the logs to see if there's anything to learn.

i had the same issue, i found out i installed the UMS 5.1.1.1 Java 8 but my java plugin was 1.7
after installing the correct version it works
