UMS doesn't playout any Files

Hello Guys,

I've also tried to use UMS for connecting my personal media library - in this especially case only for Audio - to my upnp mediaplayer - a sangean wft-2d combined FM, DAB+ and UPnP-Mediaplayer and I've failed. I've spent a lot of time, but I can't get it working correctly. The device is connected by wire in a local Network. The UMS is installed on my home server using Windows 2003 Server R2 Standard that works also as a DC and file and print Server. UMS is found on the WFT-2d correctly, the directories of the shared Folders are shown, but If I try to play an Audio is only the message screened 'empty'.
Another media Server application - I've tested Home Media Center - is working correctly with my device but it has another disadvantages. I'll be happy if you've a possibility to find a solution for my Problem. Therefore I've attached the bugreport like descripted in this Forum.

Good morning,

last night I've spent some more time in ums and have made some new experiences, so I've changed the title above.

UMS doesn't play out anything of my media library in the configuration mentioned in post 1. I've tried some more media renderers, especially WMP 12 under Windows 8.1 and the Mediaplayer included in the german Fritz!Box. All configurations shows ums as connected but if I try to Play out some content, the result is only the message 'empty' or 'the title could not played out'. If I scan the Folders of ums in wmp the message is shown 'no media library available', regardless of whether Audio, Pictures or videos. Sangean wft-2d says transcode Directory is 'empty'. It seems like transcoding of any files don't work because of a fundamental error.

I've make sure, that no Firewall and Network Problems are present. Maybe there is a Problem with Java; I've tried Java7/79, Java 8/25 (recommended last for Server 2003R2 by Oracle) and also the current Java8/45, it makes no difference.

I don't know anymore what to do. Please can you give me an advice for fixing the Problem, may be it's simple. I've watched different Videos in YouTube for installing and cinfiguring ps3ms or ums, but no new Input was given up to the question if anymore plugins have to install (ffmpeg, avisynth) ?

Have you read the http://www.universalmediaserver.com/faq ... erSupport1 ? Your media renderer is not recognized so you should try to make your config file.

yes, I've had read this and I've investigated which Informations about my media renderer I can get. That's not so much, but I'll try it once again. But have you read about wmp? Also wmp doesn't work and shows only the message 'no remote media library found' if I try to connect to as available shown UMS. And wmp is native supported by UMS?! But last night I've tried something more. At first I've changed the right management of my shared media directories to 'everyone' for read and execute, no Change was to observe. Next I've created a new Directory 'Music' in the rootdirectory (C:\), no Change. I've tested the mediaplayer of Fritz!box too, the same behaviour was to observe. I've deinstalled UMS and Java 8/25, have reinstalled Java 7/79 and UMS. While installing Java a window was opened which displayed a 'Browser Luncherror -1'. I've thoght about it and I've disabled the by Default enabled 'Enhanced Security Configuration' of IE8 on W2k3R2. I really don't know, if it's the reason, but now I could playout one! of hundred of audio files with the MediaPlayer of the Fritz!Box. But only this one! Also this MP ist shown in the log as not recognised. After than I'd to go to bed and work. You will get a new log in the next hours. I'll make shure, if it coheres with IE Security configuration and if it is possible to playout this file by wmp or wft-2d. That's the current Status, you'll hear from me. Good morning users and developers of ums,

according to my theme I want to give you the latest experience after spending a lot of ideas and time last days again, couppled with the ask for help. First I want to tell that I've make some progress, Fritz!Media Player now transcode and plays Audio files after I've created the right renderer config file. I've tried to do it also for Sangean WFT-2D and that renderer is regognised now, but due to an 'Fatal Error' it could not Play out any Content yet. Please take a look at appended Logfile 'ums_dbg_wft-2d', my knowledge is not so good to understand where it Fails and what it means.

Also the Trial to play out Content via WMP fails still. The WMP is - as far as I understand - correctly regocnised with the ums-original config-file, but if I try to play some Content form the right connected UMS I get from WMP the message 'No Remote Content Library found', regardless of whether I try Audio, Video or Images. Please see also the appended Logfile 'ums_dbg_wmp12'.
