Always transcode AC3

Hi,

How do I configure UMS to always transcode from AC3 to another audio format? The client I'm using does not support AC3 audio.

You can go into the renderer file and change the line "TranscodeAudio" to MP3

Hello

I am having the same issue with this wonderful tool. I played around the setting a lot. But no chance.

I use the iphone(VLC app) and I created a config file to override the standard settings. The different changes to the configurations do something. Meaning I know that changes have an effect. However. I always get the "AC3 aka A52" not supported message.

- I tried copying other profiles an removing the word ac3 everywhere
- I tried TranscodeAudio. Tried WAV(Is standard anyways) and MP3

Help would be very much appreciated

I thought I fixed it. But I'm still having issues with transcording AC3 media. I was able to transcode media that previously errored by using the following steps but it's still unpredictable.

iPhone 5S using VLS for iOS Version:2.5.1(1)
USM ver 5.1.4 on Windows 8 x64.

- I shut down USM.
- Renamed C:\ProgramData\UMS\database to C:\ProgramData\UMS\database.sav. The database folder was recreated after USM was started.
- After the USM restart my iphone was recognized as an unknown renderer so I had to manually choose the Apple-iDevice.conf renderer file.

Apple-iDevice.conf

RendererName = iPad / iPhone
RendererIcon = ipad-iphone.png
TranscodeAudio = MP3

How can this work. UMS ist simply creating a new database folder .

Now I am not using a custom config file, because the standard config already has the line "TranscodeAudio = WAV". Anything I play within the "Transcode" folder ist being recognized as ac3/A52.

I played the stream through the vlc player. The vlc player is using the same profile as the iPhone.

The codec info dialog shows a "A52" track.

It's unpredictable. I thought I was on to something but can't figure out how I was able to get an AC3 media file to transcode when before it was erroring. I'm still receiving the error for other AC3 media. Even with AudioTranscode set in the renderer conf, USM isn't transcoding.

I did a clean install and now I cant even get the folders to show.

If I play NON ac3 streams, and go through the Transcode folder, then I end up with a A52 stream.
