"New Media" folder

Post by mikeaoller »

Hi,

sorry to bring up this topic again, but I would really like being able to use a cool "New Media" folder feature...I have quite a large library...and it's sorted using several Folder-Levels, e.g.:

Code: Select all

z:\video (the folder whis is entered in UMS navigation settings)
z:\video\TVdoc
z:\video\TVdoc\BBC
z:\video\TVdoc\BBC\Feature1\feature1.mkv
z:\video\TVdoc\BBC\Feature2\feature2.mkv
z:\video\TVdoc\BBC\Feature3\feature3.mkv
z:\video\TVdoc\NatGeo\
z:\video\TVdoc\NatGeo\Feature1\Series1\E01\feature1-s01e01.mkv
z:\video\TVdoc\NatGeo\Feature1\Series1\E02\feature1-s01e02.mkv
z:\video\TVdoc\NatGeo\Feature1\Series1\E03\feature1-s01e03.mkv
I would really like the "Clear All" feature to recursivly clear everything if I use the option in the root of the "New Media" folder. Currently I would have to go to every single subfolder (e.g. z:\video\TVdoc\BBC\Feature1) and use it there to mark an item as watched. And doing this does not even keep the folder "Feature1" from appearing within "BBC" within "TVdoc" within "New Media". Really: the "New Media" folder feature is -in its current implementation- only usable for people that have all their media in a single (or few) folder(s) with no subdirectories.

In my opinion a "New Media" folder 1st should only list items (folders & files) added to the scanned folders after the feature's activation. 2nd: If it's activated as a default on new installs it should list nothing instead of everything. If implemented that way a "Clear all" option isn't needed at all. 3rd: Newly added items that were watched should no longer appear in the "New Media" folder. 4th: If I only add a new episode (e.g. z:\video\TVdoc\NatGeo\Feature1\Series1\E04\feature1-s01e04.mkv) I would expect the content of the "New Media" folder like that:

Code: Select all

New Media\TVdoc\NatGeo\Feature1\Series1\E04\feature1-s01e04.mkv
After watching that episode, the "New Media" folder should be empty again...until I add the folder or file of new media item(s).

If considered a feature-request, please move to the according category.

Thanks alot for reading, maybe somebody likes my thoughts.

Best Regards,
Mike

I don't use New Media folder, so really nothing to say.

You might be interested in ums-mlx which adds a media library and is intended for large libraries.
