mp4 not playing on PS4

I am trying to play a full blue ray rip mp4 and when I click to play it loads and the circle spins for about 30 sec and then i just a cannot play media message. In the log it doesn't say anything is happening, it just simply starts and stops. I have even tried the new 6.0.0( since this was happening on the 5.3) and the same thing keeps happening. Everything else is plays fine, well I have only really tried mp3s, but they seem to work just fine. I am running El capitan osx. Any help would be nice.
