5.1 sound on older movies and mp4

like to keep up with things so when I heard about ums thought great lets give it a go.been using ps3 media server for well ages now
so heres what I found out and its the same on ps3 media server as well as universal media server that's the main reason I thought I would try it out
so 5.1 sound or should I say lack of with some older movies and mp4 . all I get is pcm so to fix that in the past I used mkv toolnix and it converted the file to mkv allowing me to get dd 5.1 . well ps3 media server 1.54 came out and all I get is pcm and its the same using ums so unfortunately I have had to go back to ps3 media server 1.53 which all works great when using mkv toolnix .would love to give ums server a try as I also have an xbox 360 as well as ps3 so could the developers please look into this problem
