New to UMS. What is the Best way to import DVDs

Complete noob, just decided to try UMS and get rid of my stacks of DVD in my living room.

Does the the forum have a idea what the best method of importing DVDs for OS X Mavericks?

Should I just use handbrake, Should I just make a disk image? Other better solution?
