I wouldn't bother with win10 on your current hardware tbh. I was given a laptop from 2010ish that had been upgraded to win10, it is a pain to use as it is so slow at doing simple things. It would probably be quite usable if I upgraded the memory and used a SSD though. If you do go for win10 though you should disable all the surveillance crap that is not easy to remove. There are scripts that block and remove all the bloat that comes installed, this video might be helpful.

You could always try Linux, you can get some that will boot from a usb so doesn't affect your current OS. Unfortunately that is my total knowledge with Linux :lol:
