I think you have to manually subscribe to threads - or maybe e-mail notification isn't enabled in your profile. I get notifications per e-mail.
I don't know the Roku at all, but according to this thread it seems like there's an "app" for it with DLNA support. UMS is strictly DLNA. I see in our renderer database that we have profiles for "Roku 3 running Network Streaming Player 3" and "Roku 3 running Network Streaming Player 5". I have no idea how well it works though.
