Can you do a fresh install -- I think there is a UMS Service installed once before but not now:

DEBUG 2013-12-08 11:57:32.631 [AWT-EventQueue-0] Starting "C:\Program Files\Universal Media Server\win32\service\wrapper.exe" -r wrapper.conf
DEBUG 2013-12-08 11:57:33.038 [Thread-20] wrapper | The Universal Media Server service is not installed - The specified service does not exist as an installed service. (0x424)
ok. I did do a fresh install as there were many changes since my old Feb version. It by default wanted to install it as a service, but I didn't want that, and I run it not as a service. I don't know why it was trying to also run itself as a service after already starting up.
Also a Directory that is no longer available?

Code: Select all

WARN 2013-12-08 12:14:47.540 [New I/O worker #12] The directory M:\ does not exist. Please remove it from your Shared folders list on the Navigation/Share Settings tab
That's my DVD-ROM drive. When I use UMS to watch a DVD on the PS3, or AVI files that are on my vast collection of burned DVDs, I put the disc into the drive. The rest of the time, the drive is empty and I get that error. I don't really like seeing it as an error, it's a big nagging, I have deliberately shared drive M for a reason! I certainly would never keep adding and removing drive M to the shares based on when I want to play a file from a DVD. An enhancement might be to not nag with that message if it's a physical drive that is not available, but I am happy to live with that minor point as it's just a line in a logfile which I know about and can safely ignore.
I think this might be your issue:

Code: Select all

DEBUG 2013-12-08 12:23:42.254 [Thread-59] [VD_FFMPEG] DRI failure.
DEBUG 2013-12-08 12:23:47.832 [Thread-56] Cannot grow buffer size from 52,428,800 bytes to 209,715,200 bytes.
DEBUG 2013-12-08 12:23:47.832 [Thread-56] Error given: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
DEBUG 2013-12-08 12:23:47.973 [Thread-56] Cannot grow buffer size from 52,428,800 bytes to 233,550,643 bytes either.
Hmm. I don't know why it's using so much memory. Nevertheless it shouldn't need FFMPEG to play a simple mp3 file on the ps3, as the ps3 should play mp3 natively?

Yes, sure I'll check through. May do another log with the newer version.

Here are my later tests and a new logfile which is hopefully clearer.
ums_dbg_mrt_20131211.zip
(77.29 KiB) Downloaded 520 times
test 1. 18:31:39.968
Kermode_10121019 Tim Burton.mp3
Failed with Network Error 80710736 on the PS3.
There is also a pregnant pause (6 seconds) before the screen changed on the PS3 and it failed showing the error.

test 2. 18:31:52.281
repeated same file.
failed the same way.

test 3. 18:32:05.390
Kermode_20120106 Ralph Fiennes.mp3
failed the same way

test 4. 18:32:22.375
Kermode_20120113 Steven Spielberg.mp3
This played fine!

test 5. 18:32:40.968
Back to Kermode_20120106 Ralph Fiennes.mp3
failed as above.

test 6. 18:32:56.953
I repeated "Kermode_20120113 Steven Spielberg.mp3" again, the file from test 4.
this time it failed, but it's the same file that just worked a minute ago! Failure was as above.

HTH

ps this seems an odd message in the way it is written - Overriding detected mime type "audio/mpeg"... with "audio/mpeg" (ie the same thing)?

Code: Select all

TRACE 2013-12-11 18:31:29.015 [New I/O worker #9] Overriding detected mime type "audio/mpeg" for file "Kermode_10121019 Tim Burton.mp3" with renderer preferred mime type "audio/mpeg"

bump. I have now updated to the latest version and I still have this problem.

Are there any other logfiles you need from me to find out what's causing this problem please?
