Yes indeed, thank you for confirming my original contention that this is a jvm issue and not (at least directly) a problem with ums.
Ums video is getting rapidly better; thank you for all the continuing activity, attention and hard work on this very important and pretty unique project.
I still have some problems with high quality audio streaming - which I touched on elsewhere, but now I have been encouraged to install this software on a development machine to investigate the jvm dependency, maybe I'll look into that a bit deeper rather than rely on the upnp plugin for my old Squeezebox (Perl-based) server.

Great, you might also want to check out our latest code (which we will be releasing soon, maybe later today as 3.0a1) because we added much better iTunes integration. I doubt it will fix any playback issues but it allows you to browse your iTunes library by artist, album and genre folders.

I'll do that ... though I don't use iTunes, for the most part I'm Linux based (though I have over 10 years Java experience, since 1.1.8, so I'll give it my best shot when I get some time to devote to it.)
