The problem is fixed if: i create a new user account and run UMS from that!
I remember solving other non-related problems before with this "trick" - highly recommended in desperate situations.

Anyways.. thats what i'm going for right now. YAY, back to debugging WD TV Live


Edit: I'm sure this could be fixed somehow.. atleast i know it's related to my account, but that's still a pretty broad spectrum of possibilities.. not up for it ^^

Does your original account have admin privileges?

Also, did you end up getting rid of that "casino.com" malware? Or whatever other viruses you might have had?

The original account has admin privileges yes.
The casino.com was my own fault (was messing with windows .hosts file, but had forgotten about it)

Did you try a fresh install of Windows again?

No, it's running as expected now under this new user.. (which has no administator rights)

But i will eventually ^^

So the was the only way to fix it? Was by creating a new user account? If so I'm guessing whatever malware you had was limited to that specific user account.

yea, and I'm not sure there is any malware..
Been running loads of virus/spy programs.. they found the usual cookies and stuff. + been running MSE from day one.

For now i leave it..it's running. =)

Ah I see, glad the mystery of the casino.com malware was solved
It's interesting that the new account fixed it, very weird. I don't see how it can be related to UMS though since changing accounts wouldn't cause any differences in UMS.

Yeah, I'm also kinda confused as to why that fixed it. Unless some settings on his other account got messed up perhaps (by the malware).
