Subtitles SOLUTION for WDTV Live!

I made it!!!
On 3.3.0
java 1.7.0_45
I have to test it throughly, but it seems to work.
- I deleted ALL preferences for the subtitles languages.
- I chose FFmpeg, MEncoder, txMuxeR as order of rendering.
- I used the attached config file.
If you have any suggestion on how to improve my config I will be grateful.
To all of you, thank you for your support!

I'm new to UMS. I had tried Plex and PMS several years ago and they both quickly ran out of memory and it was hit or miss if the PS3 saw them or played anything. I tried the standard UMS on our MacMini and it also ran out of memory serving up any but the smallest playlist. Since the Mini is running Mountain Lion Server and I had Java installed for CrashPlan I thought I'd try the Java 7 build of UMS.
Unlike the normal build (Java 6 presumably) this Java 7 build did not peg all 8 cores (796% was the peak) whenever the PS3 accessed a folder or playlist. By doubling the Xmx and Xss out of heap space errors in the log disappeared.
The problem is I'm seeing a "There is no inputstream to return for..." error for certain media - not exclusively one type as far as I can tell: .mp4, .mkv, .avi

Does not seem to be related to subtitles as some videos with no subtitle track give this error too:

Avia on Kindle Fire HD only plays the audio - no video appears on screen and no errors in UMS.

H264, VORBIS, 48.0kHz 16bit, 2 channels .mkv plays fine on PS3.
'XVID', MPEG Layer 3, 2 channels, 48000 Hz .avi plays fine on PS3.
A lot of info displayed in different forms and I have lots more digitized media to test. Currently most of it is gibberish to me.
I'll have to standardize it all and pop it in a spreadsheet to try to see patterns and what needs to be enabled or disabled.

did you check the right profile settings for the renderer? I had to modify the standard one for my wdtv live.
did you check the latest version of java? I had issues with java <1.7.45

Looking into the profile settings was my next step, cyberbooster. I saw what you had to go through to get the WD to work with UMS…or vice-versa… Hopefully I will not have the hardware troubles you did on top of everything else. Were you seeing "External input stream instance is null" in your logs?

No, my issues were with subtitles not showing.
If I use FFMpeg I get no subs but the right legth (and I can skip forward/backward), if I use MEncoder I get subs but 18:18 length all the time. Go figure.

UMS (listed as PMS in the Activity Monitor) crashed several times today while I was trying to play various media types - including mp4 & mkv videos I had played previously (I can tell because there's a RESUME... for each I was playing).
Here's the archived logs. There was a ton of OutOfMemoryError: java heap space despite the fact that I had doubled its Xmx and Xms settings.
