Install as a daemon

Hi,
I have been trying to find a media server for Mac that will both perform well and be runnable as a daemon (like UMS seems to support Windows services). Serviio seems to be able to run as a daemon, but it seems to fry my server when I try to stream and transcode any MKV format movie. So I keep looking for the ideal server. I have also tried iSedora, which performs very well and supports embedded subtitles, but it doesn't seem to be concerned with background launching in the near future (if ever).
Following the example http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=140 is there a way to run UMS in a Mac Mini server automatically from boot on, without having to leave a user logged on?
