True transcoding to Android

I've been looking to stream videos using UMS to my Android. So far I haven't found what I'm looking for. The solutions I've read and tried aren't giving me very good results, because I think my phone still transcodes the video instead of UMS. I'm using a Galaxy S2 and really big videos are slow playing, exactly like I was using my phone video player to play it(MoboPlayer). I've tried MX Player wondering if that's a newer better player but they give me the same results.

Isn't there a proper Android application out there that just catches what UMS transcodes already? I know the PS3 does that because otherwise, it couldn't play MKV files on its own. And I know my phone can handle the video quality because I can watch the 10gb video perfectly using Splashtop albeit not an elegant way to watch videos.

Ive been trying to figure out a Happy medium with android devices my self.. nothing i want more than to watch a movie on my Asus transformer, kindle, or SGS3...

but at the same token those three devices all have different device resolutions.

So i got to thinking if all devices are WiFi, the media being streamed so be fairly low in quality so there is less jitter. I was thinking like 640x320 to start with.

The trouble with Android devices and apps is that there is so many apps out there that use different software renderer's or the hardware on them is different... i think this is why building the iPad/iPhone config was easier...

I need to find what AOSP's baseline for video playback is.
