MKV Transcoding - Samsung Allshare Issue

Post by thefox »

Hi folks,

I've had massive, MASSIVE frustrations with getting transcoding to work on this tv. 1080p MKV files are working perfectly to stream from my ubuntu 12.04 server, but once I try to transcode that same file with some subtitles, I only get a blank screen and after ~20 sec a message that says (translated) something to the effect of "sorry, this file is not currenly supported". Seemingly no problems in the UMS Log - just says the file starts playing and stops playing.

Sounds like there is something in the transcoding format that throws Allshare for a loop.

Any tips?

Oh, by the way; Plex works with transcoding, but has piss poor subtitle support, which is why I was drawn to UMS.

(As far as Samsung goes I will not buy another product from them because of these ridicolous DLNA incompatibilities and lack of effort.)

For what its worth: http://www.dlna.org/dlna-for-industry/d ... l-overview

That being said, MKV's and Subtitles are a major issue that is actively being worked on with the developers.

What does help us help you are your logfiles in TRACE mode. :)
