[Not a bug] 3.1.2.1: Seeking not working on PS3

I have upgraded to 3.1.2.1 and unable to jump to a particular time in a movie (this feature used to work in 2.x). I'm using a PS3. I will follow up with the necessary information for further debugging, but just letting others know if they are still unable to jump on a PS3.

Thanks for the debug info. I can't see any problems in it. Can you please try downloading this and replacing C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\win32\tsMuxeR-new.exe with the tsMuxeR.exe inside that zip? (remember to rename it to tsMuxeR-new.exe before copying over)

Thanks for the quick response. I tried subbing in the txMuxeR (1.10.6, renamed, etc.) but didn't make a difference. Also tried, the latest 2.3.2 beta for the heck of it, and it too didn't make a difference.

Something to note. I also tried to force mencoder and ffmpeg to do the rendering. Both exhibit the same problem when trying to jump.

Also, when using any of these (ts, Mencoder, ffmpeg), when I try Scene Selection, only the first 5 interval pictures show up (and very slowly compared to 2.x UMS) and after that, I get a ? in each box representing a scene. Selecting a box with a ? results in a "data corruption" error.

Additionally, I enabled the transcode chapter support. Jumping to a time didn't work there, either (tried for ts, mencoder, and ffmpeg there as well).

If you need debug logs for these scenarios as well, let me know (though I probably won't get to it till Friday or this weekend due to the Thanksgiving holiday).

Hope this helps..

We can get to all the bugs but let's stick to one at a time or it will get confusing for me :) Can you please find the latest release that works for you? Including the 3.0 alpha versions

Will do (but probably not for a few days). I hope the older versions still work for me and it's not something in my environment. :)

I didn't mean to mix up a bunch of issues. I thought they might all be related and would help is determining what may be at fault.

Thanks..

Been banging my head on this for a little bit, and came down to this conclusion: MKVMerge is creating .mkv files that don't skip properly.

I re-encoded using Handbrake, which created an .mkv file. It skipped/scene selected properly.

I took that .mkv file and ran it through mkvmerge. The resulting file can't skip or scene select.

Running both files through VLC Player has the same issue. The Handbrake file can jump to any point very quickly. The mkvmerge file hangs indefinitely.

This doesn't appear to be a problem with UMS. Sorry to take up your time...

Update: Found the issue with mkvmerge. I was setting "cues" to "none" in the video "extra options" tab. Interestingly, I've been doing that for a long time but only recently has this caused an issue for me. I didn't see any enhancement in mkvmerge in 6.5.0 in this area, but something is different. Setting it to "default" allows skipping and scene selection to work.
