[Solved] UMS 3.0+ producing negative buffer

Post by R9deLima »

Hi UMS team. First off I'd just like to thank you guys for this marvelous program. Keep up the great work!

I just have a couple issues with the recent versions of UMS 3.0 and higher. Now when playing certain streams on Jumpy or navi-X I am getting a lot of negative buffers for the videos and they just seem to hang on a black screen. I've provided an example illustrated in the picture attached. I am also getting multiple Java errors that you can see in my debug log; heap space, out of memory, bound exceptions...etc.

My laptop is Windows 8 64 bit with the latest Java, running UMS 3.1.2.1 and 3.0 prior both producing the same errors. I also have PMS 1.80 running with no buffer or java errors.

On my desktop my system is Vista 32 bit with the latest version of Java. On that system I have UMS 2.5.1 and PMS 1.70 running with no buffer or Java errors. I've tried to adjust buffer size and heap space but nothing has worked. Any help is appreciated :)

Hi R9deLima :) Can you please try the alpha and beta versions of 3.0.0? That way we can try to see when exactly the problem started. You can find all the old releases here

@Subjunk, thanks for the quick response. As soon as I get a chance to test out the alpha and beta versions I will post some logs.

@Deflanko, that was just a stream that I played from Navi-x so I'm not sure why the ip address is invalid? It should be opened to anybody. Maybe the person hosting that file on Navi-x removed it recently?

I'll get back on here as quick as I can with some results. Thanks guys.

The same goes for the other files tried in the error logs too, i got a "Forbidden" on both

Hi Subjunk,

So I did some testing and this is one what I found running the same two streams on each version of UMS and one for PMS. I've included logs to compare all of them.

-UMS 2.5.1 & PMS 1.80- Streams ran perfectly. No negative buffering or java errors

-UMS 3.0.0-a1- Streams ran perfectly, but took a bit longer to load up than UMS 2.5.1/PMS 1.80. No negative buffering or java errors.

-UMS 3.0.0-b1-Negative buffering and multiple java errors. Same results as versions 3.0 and 3.1.2.1. So between alpha 1 and beta 1 I'm not sure what changed.

DeFlanko, the streams I used are from regular Jumpy addons and run perfect on my end on various versions. Maybe they are restricted to certain regions?? If you'd like me to test something else let me know.

Thanks again guys!

What about 3.2.0 R9deLima, are you getting the same results?

Hi Optimus,

I just tested 3.2 and I'm getting the same negative buffers and java errors. 3.0.0-a1 works perfect, but I haven't tested anything between alpha 2 to 5. Beta version 1 is giving me errors so maybe that's where the root of the problem is. If it would help to test some of the other alpha versions let me know. Thanks!!

Hey guys, just thought i'd update you on the problems I have been having. I tried using UMS 3.4 and the results are a bit different from that of 3.2 or 3.3. In the previous versions when playing streams I was getting negative buffers in the billions. Sometimes the streams will play after a while or just hang.

Now using UMS 3.4 the buffer fluctuates rapidly between 0 and a positive number. The streams i'm attempting will try to play, but stutter and skip to the next video or stream on the playlist. Here is a debug of streams from the veetle addon. Its the same issue with all the addons . Hopefully someone can take a look and identify what's going on. Thanks in advance!
