Thumbnails not shown until UMS restarts

I add new files to a video folder. The folder is set to be automatically scanned. The new files are shown in the client and work fine, but no thumbnail is shown (and no default UMS icon, just blank).
It is a problem because I run UMS headless, so I have to kill the process and start again UMS so the thumbnails for new added files are shown too.
