[Solved] Help with simple thumbnail size settings (SOLVED)

Post by Dan789333 »

EDIT: Problem solved. See reply below.

Had a power outage yesterday, and afterwards my UMS had a totally different look to it on my TV.

After navigating to UMS on my TV, it gave me the choice of VIDEOS, MUSIC or PHOTOS. It never used to do that. It used to go directly to my video folder. Strange, but not a big deal. I can live with that.

So I select VIDEOS, and the folders and thumbnails are huge! Only 2 rows of 4 folders fit on the screen before needing to scan to the right. Prior to this, it would have 2 rows of 7 folders (with the folders and thumbnails being smaller).

If I select either MUSIC or PHOTOS, the thumbnails are smaller, and there are 2 rows of 7 folders. But this doesn't happen when I select VIDEOS.

I've spent hours searching for a way to change the views (the size of the thumbnails). I've searched the Main Panel under both GENERAL SETTINGS and NAVIGATION SETTINGS. I've searched on my TV screen where it says FOLDER and OPTIONS, but neither is of any help (all FOLDER does is list "Folder" with no other choices, and all OPTIONS does is list "Play Selected").

I'm on an iMac and was running 9.7.1, and while trying to resolve this issue I upgraded to 9.8, but it didn't help any. My TV is a Samsung smart TV if that is a factor.

Please help. I just want to get the size of the folders and icons back to being small, and showing 2 rows of 7 icons per screen, like it used to.

EDIT: After watching a show, I discovered it also is not resuming a video where I left off. Tried fooling with the settings to no avail.

Problem solved. This whole mess must be due to the power outage I had yesterday. I'm on a Mac, so I quit UMS, went to the APPLICATION SUPPORT folder and deleted the UMS folder. Then restarted UMS from scratch.

Once I opened it up on my TV, it was back to normal. It no longer asked me if I wanted to select PHOTOS or MUSIC files -- it opened up to my selected videos folder.

The thumbnails were back to their original smaller size. :)

And it once again resumed a video where it left off.

I guess the old adage fits -- try unplugging it and plugging it back in. In this case, uninstall the program (and its preferences) and start again from scratch.

Just leaving this here in case others have a similar issue.
