Universal Media Server | Forum

I have purchased a new laptop and have been trying to set it up as a media server. I installed java8 261 (I need java running for another program. I installed tried both UMS 9.6.1 and 9.8.1 but I can't seem to get any devices to find UMS. I have turned off the software firewall and have made sure that the network is listed as private. USM sees my TV but I can't get my PS3, PS4 android phone, android tablet or TV to see UMS.

This is the most common problem on this forum, and you can find tons of thread on the topic. You should read some of the others to see what you can do to troubleshoot. In short, there are 3 "usual suspects": Firewall, different subnets for UMS and the renderers, and that UMS binds to the wrong network interface.
