I've tried playing streamed videos with vlc (on a Windows laptop) and BigScreen (on the Oculus Quest 2). Both seem to have the same problem. I am unable to alter the playback position. That means if I watch half a video, then stop for the night, when I return to watch the remainder, I am force to start from the beginning again. Is there a way around this?

My media server is installed on a Windows 10 Home laptop.

It will depend on how it is playing. It is probably transcoding and some renderers have problems seeking transcoded videos. I think VLC should handle this or it should able to play without transcoding.
Will need logs to see what is happening. see the section in red above.
