I saw a 7 year old post about animated GIFs and I was hoping somone could anser a question for me.
How does one view an animated GIF? I have not seen any options in the settings for them and when
I try to viewthem (I stream through a PS3) they are just dis[played as a single frame. Do I need a
specific codec or is there a setting I am overlooking?

TIA

It would have to depend on the renderer if animated GIFs are supported as UMS will just serve the file if it is.

I think this is the post you mentioned but logs were not supplied so there was no answer if it was due to UMS doing something else or the renderer.

If GIFs are unsupported by a renderer then these would be converted in to a format that is like JPEG but these don't animate.
At most all UMS could convert each frame in to a separate image so you can browse though them but I don't think there is currently any option to do this.

Maybe there is a way to convert them into a video file for very large GIFs with lots of frames but for most with only a few I don't think it would be worth it.
I don't know of any setting in UMS that would do this so it would have to be done by another program first.
