How to have one file in multiple places

First off, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a search and I didn't find anything. I also searched Google and found nothing that helps.
Basically I want to know if there is a was way to use shortcuts to video files within the media server.
For example lets say I had an external Drive with all my movies sub divided into folders "Movies that start with A" "Movies that start with B" and so on.
So the Movie "Home Alone" would be in the "H" folder. But lets say I ALSO want to make a folder labeled "Christmas Movies" and I want "home alone" to show up in that folder also.
How can this be achieved without having to have a copy of the movie in both locations.
Is there a feature that could be added or is there some way I could just do this myself?
Again, sorry if this has been asked or if this is a really stupid question.
If this can't be done please explain why.

Let me see if i understand what your asking...

The application will now reach out to your storage locations and do the work of indexing and sorting much like how Windows Media PLayer does.

Best advice i can give is that you centralize all your media and make sub folders with alphabet folders, and drag and drop media accordingly.

then add the root of that media folder to UMS.

I currently have all my files divided up by title. There is one folder for each letter of the alphabet.
I am trying to find a way to have a movie in more then one folder without actually using that space.

For example: lets say you have a shortcut to UMS on your desktop and you chick it, then UMS opens. But the files for UMS are not actually on your desktop.
If you wanted you could have multiple shortcuts to UMS in different folders all over your computer, but you would only have the files installed and taking up space in one location.
I am trying to find a way to do the same thing with movies.

I have "Home alone" in the "H" folder but I want to be able to make a folder that say "Christmas Movies" or "Favorite Movies" and have the movie appear in those folders as well, without having the actually file there much like a program shortcut.
Does that make more sense? Sorry if I am explaining it poorly.
