Windows are blank

I have Windows 8.1 Pro, and just ran UMS for the first time after installing it a while ago. The first window that popped up asked me if I wanted to run the configuration wizard. I clicked yes. The four windows in the wizard were blank, and I could only advance by clicking the close button. Then, the main window after the wizard was also blank. I closed UMS and restarted it. The main window seemed to be displaying fine, but all the tabs titles were grayed out, the status never changed from "Searching for renderers", and only the big "Quit" button seemed to have any affect.

I uninstalled and did a clean installation. This time, I saw the first two dialog boxes (start the wizard, and should UMS start minimized), then the same behavior, including the unresponsive window on the second start.

What's going on, and how can I fix it?

Have you tried cleaning up your java installation? Using the official uninstall and JavaRA. I had a strange problem with UMS being unable to work without administrator's right and turned up the Java updater had messed up something.

I just un-installed (using JavaRa) and re-installed the JRE. Now, the window shows up fine, but is still unresponsive and appears to hang while "Searching for renderers...".

And I can't get logs with an unresponsive UI. Is there another way to snag them?

The logs should be in C:\ProgramData\UMS\debug.log

Ok, here's a pastebin for the debug log: http://pastebin.com/pn1PYnbP

Strange your debug.log looks normally. UMS starts without error and find XBMC renderer. The problem must be somewhere else than in UMS. Have you tried to use 32-bit Java version instead of 64-bit version?
