Ps3 won't recognize UMS?

Hey all,
SO i recently moved into a new apartment and cannot get my UMS to be read on my PS3. It wont recognize any media players i have tried. Right now we have our internet through an Arris modem from WOW which is connected to a Belkin N150 that broadcasts our wireless internet.
I turned on sharing on my computer and enabled the media server option on my ps3. I've also disabled the firewall on both the Arris and the Belkin, as well as my computer. I looked up my ps3's IP on the DHCP and it shows up as "unknown". I tried to ping the ps3 via my computer and it failed. I also tried to do it with all other active connections on the router and none of them worked either. I'm pretty sure its a problem with the router not allowing devices on the network to communicate, but i'm at a loss of how to troubleshoot it.
I'd appreciate any help you guys could give. If needed, i can post log details or any other type of information that might make this easier to figure out.
Thanks!
EDIT: I found that my router had an option "Block ICMP Pinging". I disabled this and now my ps3 can be pinged and my UMS can see my windows media server (from my computer) but the PS3 still cant detect anything.
EDIT 2: Just restarted UMS and it wont detect anything. Also, now i can't ping the PS3 from my computer again. I'm at a loss for what could be causing this.
