subtitles cause skipping?

I just set this up, and I'm running into a playback issue.

Rundown:
Windows 7 box with UMS and Bubbleupnp server
android phone with bubbleupnp for controlling
TV with Chromecast

A movie works fine. Just tried to play one, seemed okay
Tried another movie with subtitles and it wast constantly freezing. Every 2-3 seconds it would freeze. I thought it was a wifi issue, restarted everything, no luck.
Finally got the idea to drop the subtitles, movie suddenly played fine.

Subtitles are SRT in UTF-8 format.

any ideas what could be the issue? UMS is set up default, i haven't really changed anything yet (except to add a share)
and when I previously used this same setup but with twonky server (Demo) I played several movies with external subs without issues.

*bump*

Hey guys, it's been awhile, sad I haven't seen a reply to this issue.

I'm still having it. Movie without external subtitle file plays fine, no skipping.
Add subtitles, bam skipping every few seconds.

Just checked CPU usage, it is not maxed, so it's not a CPU issue.

It shouldn't be a video bitrate issue as it's playing fine without subs.

Current subs I'm trying are idx/sub and same issue.

Also updated to latest version and still freezing. sigh...

Seems you don't understand how UMS works. Difference between streaming/remuxing/transcoding.
If file is played as is, it is sent to renderer in original size with no CPU utilization.
If subs are needed and renderer doesn't support them, UMS have to burn them directly in the video = transcode/re-encode video with subs.
It means video can get 5-10x higher size (depending on quality set and encoding codec).
If cpu can reencode video in realtime, maybe your network not so original file with 1GB size can get 8GB in size what can be too much for your WIFI,etc...
But without logs nobody can help you ;)
