Ok. so here is the problem I'm having. I've been through so much to get this thing to work correctly and I'm just lost now, so I'm asking for help. I have a laptop, (Windows 8.1) with both a gigabit lan and wifi in it. I am trying to run the wifi from my latpop to my ps3, from my wifi through the lan and into the ps3. Now on older version of windows this was simple you could click a box and it would work, but on windows 8.1 they made it into a huge challenge, with little info to google to get it to work. Anyway so yesterday while trying to get it to work I couldn't get internet to go though it, but I could actually use the internet on my laptop (on wifi) and still use UMS to stream video. well I wake up today and it wasn't able to finder the renderer. so all day and night I've been working on can't seem to get it to work like it did yesterday. I did however figure out how to get the internet to stream through my wifi to ps3 today, (Place these in internet protocol version 4 under lan, for internet to work through wifi, to

go into ethernet. also turn on share internet under wifi.

192.168.1.101
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1

192.168.1.1
218.248.240.23

anyway if anyone needs to know how to get that working there you go... anyway so I can get the internet through my lan but it still doesn't see UMS at all. I am not using the current ums version because I rolled back to fix a separate problem anyway if anyone can let me know how to get UMS to detect my ps3 and I can still keep using the internet at the same time, please pass that info over here.
Oh yeah and the Ethernet is going straight from my laptop straight into the ps3 no router or switches at all.

Update: Seems I gotta bridge connections to Ethernet and then when I unbridge them it seems to bring back UMS Don't know why, or how it's worked, but it just did. I undid all the settings I had on before, so I also don't know weather if I put those settings back into the Ethernet ipv4 properties if it'll let me use UMS and the internet, but I'll test that later, and see if it works or not.

New update just for anyone having any problems. Java has been on of the problems all along. it seems every time it updates, it gets blocked by windows firewall. I'm pretty sure I do it some how or forget something, but it's irritating. Anyways if you got into your windows firewall settings and inbound rules your java might be set to block things, just allow it, and presto ums and ps3 can find each other through the ethernet being connected directly from laptop to the ps3.
