Multiple formats of files
I am connecting the media server to my Sony Bravia XBR TV. I have connected ok and am able to view video files.
I am confused about the transcoding settings. I have the standard default settings and have enabled the AVISync and VLC choices. I downloaded the K-lite mega codec pack and now I have audio!
When I click on a the video folder and then the subfolder on the TV, there is a trancoded folder that shows up. I click on that and 4-5 choices of the file are displayed. They are different due to the different transcoding. Unfortunately some play with audio and some do not. The files I am trying to play are MP4. It helped to rename them to a more simpler name. Even so, I still get the multiple choices of playback files.
What I want to know is, do I need to change something in the transcoding settings that will just give me the best transcoded file? No files will show up for playback unless I enable the AVI sync and VLC. If I leave it with the default choices no files are displayed.
FYI, I had tried to get the Ps3 media server to work and just couldn't get it. The universal media server connected way better and consistently. Thank you!
