Streaming photos to tv

Is there an option to transcode photos sent to tv ? My photo library consists of photos 4-8MB in size, and seeing every other photo is painfully slow, and often they just got stuck ! If only I could lower their quality or resolution (since my TV is only fullHD) that would be great. But there is no such option to be found :?
