Xbox One - Improving playback

I have the latest build of UMS (5.0.1) and I am looking to get better playback with the Xbox One. I use a wired gigabit connection from my PC to my switch, and then to my Xbox One.

When I play back MP4s, they play totally fine. However, when I try to playback MKVs with 720p or higher resolution, there is choppiness. Every 4-5 seconds, then video freezes for a millisecond. It is a noticeable delay in the playback. When I use UMS with my PS3, it is a similar issue.

Changing gears, I still use PS3 Media Server (build 1.90.1) with MKVs 720p and higher with my PS3, and they play back totally fine.

Should I assume UMS is still in a developmental phase to improve playback on Xbox One?

Thanks!

Hi shanafan, it would be really useful if you could attach logs from PS3 Media Server as well as UMS, so we can see what's causing the issue.

Sure. Thanks!

Here are the log files. I played the same video file on both Xbox One and PS3.

Universal Media Server on Xbox One (MKV played very choppy, very unwatchable)

PS3 Media Server on PS3 (MKV played perfect)

Thanks for the help

Tonight, I tested the PS3 with the same file and UMS this time. Played perfect!

Xbox One continues to play choppy.

Was it OK that I linked log files as Dropbox links, or should I use the attachment option?

I will go ahead and do that just in case :)
