Hello,

I registered to tell you this:

Ive got several DLNA-compatible devices:
Some apple-devices
Samsung HU6600 series
whole PlayStation series (3/4/Vita/PSTv)

And I have to admit. A lot of different AVIs,MP4s, DVD-ISOs etc. in my library. I was looking for a solution a year ago after some hardware-upgrades and decided to use UMS because I already knew PS3-Media-Server and it was pretty and simple. I didn't play everything but most of the times it worked.
In my opinion UMS failed to achieve this goal. I think its because the devs tried to support everything at once.

So what now?
Im sitting here very disappointed that UMS has so many bugs and glitches.
I won't go into much detail about the Playstation/Apple devices. Last time I tried (March2015), only about 1% of my files played fine.
UMS does a better job with my TV though.
My list of problems:

-Several "File may not be supported" or "Network disconnected" errors at beginning and end of a file. I managed to fix it with a new renderers config. Your SamsungC/D renderer is broken. It detects newer series and provides wrong settings. This is my User-agent: "User-Agent: SEC_HHP_[TV]'insert domain name'/1.0 DLNADOC/1.50"
-when I use any encoded file, the file will skip after 5 secs to the next file. Fix?
-Most 1080p .mkvs just don't play. Black screen and I get nothing. Most mkvs are packed with MPEG4 and DTS. While some work others don't despite having the same format (MPEG4/DTS).
-Menu navigation has a really bad sorting. e.g that transcoded folder with its 1000 subfolders.
-DVD-ISOs have sometimes Subtitles, when a dialog changes a language e.g. protagonist speaks russian in a scene with someone else or in Game of Thrones those fantasy language. UMS can't manage them. Either its subtitle completly on or off. I have no option to activate them on the fly. My DVD-Player can.
- DVD-ISOs can't fast forward or rewind. I cannot use chapter select or resume function, the TV says "unsupported File format". Log attached. Seems like UMS can't get the file-length and position of the dvd and it throws 0Byte data at the TV. Strangely Encoded chapter work, but this fail due to problem no. 2 in the list.

Please help me to fix at least the last problem. It is pretty major for me.
I don't see any real OpenSource alternatives besides UMS.

I have the same problem since I started using this program. I cant fastforward or anything. Just play, pause and stop works. I have Vizio smart tvs and sony blue-ray players.

i notice on the ps3 it can get a little buggy, what i think is happening is that ums is trying to play several streams to the ps3, the best tactic, is to use the square button, and skip that way, if done to much it may cause constant little lags during play time, let it play for a few seconds for the resume play to synchronize then circle out, and go by in and it should play fine, by communicating to the ums server to stop all streams of said file, and then just start that single stream as for fast fwoarding the traditional way... it dont go so well....
