Stuttering on PS3 vs No stutter on Xiaomi TV

Hi Guys,
I have recently noticed when watching 1080p anime some stuttering (seems like the file is not being loaded fast enough) occurs when using my PS3 as my media server. However, if I use my xiaomi TV as the media server there are no streaming issues even though my TV is connected to my router wirelessly and my PS3 is using a wired connection. There is no lag on the PS3 if I watch lower resolution media. I recently changed my TV from a 49 inch to a 55 inch but previous to this never noticed any lag when streaming 1080 anime to the PS3 in the same method.
Does anyone know why the PS3 is having lag? I prefer to use the PS3 to stream media because of it's ability to see frame thumbnails amongst other functions which my TV remote cannot do.
