[Solved] Samsung 48" UE48JU6400W cannot show subtitles

I have been using universal media server since long with my old 40" Samsung TV to watch series and movies from my laptop. No problem with subtitles then. Recently i upgraded to a 2015 model (Samsung 48" UE48JU6400W). This TV refuses to show subtitles with the media server,while it does show them when i use usb. I have tried every setting i could find on the faq, but with no result. I noticed that my tv is not included in the renderer folder of the UMS program files. Maybe this is the reason?
While trying to see what is wrong i opened the samsung no.tv conf. file and the it was changed with a conf file of my model. However while the first conf file has many settings, the second does not. I am not sure if this is any relevant.

Anyway i am stuck and i could really use your help! I use UMS Version 5.2.2.

Try this:

In the .conf change/add following

Code: Select all

1. Add
UseClosedCaption = true

2. Change 
Supported = f:avi|mkv       m:video/x-matroska

I am sorry but i am not so knowledgeable about all this, so may i ask how to change the .conf ? And which .conf do you mean and how to find it?
In fact i had seen your topic and the solutions, before i post my own, but when i accordingly tried to modify the conf file of the tv (Samsung-NotCD.conf), access was denied.

Ok, i edited your .conf
Hope it works, It's far from perfect, the transcoding part still doesent work.

You must replace the existing .conf ..it should be located in "C:\ProgramData\UMS\renderers" <--

If something else shows up, i''ll get back here, but most files i tested seem to play well with subtitles on!

Conf files should be worked server side (not at the TV). You may follow the guidelines in here http://www.universalmediaserver.com/faq ... erSupport1
