I not only updated, but Java told me I had older versions causing security issues, so I allowed it to delete them and now UMS won't start.

I tried downloading and installed Java 7 and 6 JRE, but still can't get UMS to start. Any ideas what I screwed up here?

Try downloading UMS for Java 8.

Go to the UMS homepage, where it says "Download For:" to the right of the Linux icon click the Down arrow.
You'll see the advanced download options now, there you can download the UMS for Java 8.

Hopefully that will sort it.

Try running UMS as admin, that can often fix this issue
