I apologize if this question has been asked before.
I cannot find an option to start the program automatically on startup, am I missing something? This is on Windows 7 btw.

Once installed and started (as Administrator!), there is a button on the tab 'General Configuration' called 'Install as a Window Service'.
Close UMS application.
If you restart your PC it will immediately get started as a service, so even without logging on as a user!
(if you start the Windows 7 task manager, you will find the services 'Universal Media Server' on the 'Services' tab where you can also start/stop the service.)

SpeedyQ's answer is correct, however if you don't want to run it as a service you can just add a shortcut for the program to the Startup folder (located at C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup)
I will look into adding an option to do this automatically
