Hi,

I'm looking for the optimal values for keyint, vqscale and vqmin.

Which one is better: 5-1-2 (excellent quality) or 5-1-1 (lossless)?
Would it be a good idea to set keyint < 5 (eg keyint = 1)?
What are the best values to use when cpu or bandwidth are no limiting factors?

And last but not least: i did a number of tests and even used 1-1-1. Although bandwidth usage doubled or even tripled, i didn't noticed (significant) changes in quality on a Sony Bravia EX711. Is this normal? Or maybe this is related with the quality of the original movie?

The optimal values are the defaults

I use:

keyint=5:vqscale=2:vqmin=3

Works out well for me. Picture still looks good in 1080p w/ DTS and streams fine (with minimal buffering issues).
