i think its related.

Since i have very basic subtitle needs , i have deleted content of "Subtitles language priority" and "Audio/subtitles language priority", and that works for me.

Alltho.. you might need the above settings if you got files that contain multiple languages/subs ..

so it does not help if you rename your srt <moviename>-en.srt ?
(and "en" is in subtitle language priority list)

If not, sorry then your right, it's not related.

Maybe try pack and upload debug files

Are the subs embedded?.. or do you have a srt file next to the movie?

not embedded, just 2 files named the same: 'movie.mp4', 'movie.srt'.

Ok, cause it seems to me that it's getting ignored completely.
Imo, Your file name should be xxx [External Subtitles]

Have you tried:
Movie.mp4
Movie-en.srt

Just curious

Ok, thanks.

Well.. actually i seem to have the same problem with the WD TV Live i just got in yesterday.
Even the player says Movie.avi [External Subtitles] , the movie gets served and not transocded with mencoder.
