Did some Googling and searching around here, and couldn't find an answer. I have my Desktop setup as the media folder to share from, as that's where my downloaded videos go. I also have a quite a few non-video media files that I do NOT want to share. Is there a way to set it so it only shares files with certain extensions, such as only .mp4 and .mkv, while ignore every other type of media file contained in the folder?

Not that I know, but it's a pretty strange configuration you use. You should make sure that there's only things you want to share in your "shared folders" defined in UMS. You can easily just move files from you desktop into e.g a subfolder on the desktop that could be a shared folder instead of the desktop itself.

I actually use Stardock Fences to section off my desktop. I've got a section that's nothing but media, another that is just folders, and a third that is everything else. I don't want to have to move a video or two to another folder so I can watch it on TV, and then move them back to the desktop just so I can finish watching on the computer. This something that TVersity did, but it's not as good as UMS when it comes to everything else.

UMS only shares defined extensions (video, audio and image files), but the extension isn't configurable as far as I know, probably because it's been no demand.

What you could do if you really wanted this is to fork UMS, modify the format definitions (removing those extensions you don't want shared) and then build your fork. It will take some work if you want to keep your fork updated with new releases though, you'd have to use git and merge with our master from time to time and rebuild.
