Ok to update Java?

Hey all,
just clean-installed windows and then UMS (all works out of the box, niiice!) . UMS installer downloaded Java 8 update 25. Now, since I used to have problems when I wanted to upgrade to newer Java 7/8 version on the old system and had to revert, this makes me wonder what the situation looks like now? Is it ok to keep updating Java and UMS will stay in good health? After all, the latest update is 73, could be several critical patches in there
