Opening UMS causes Java to crash
Posted: Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:45 am
So yesterday I used UMS to transcode over to my Xbox without problem. Today I start accessing UMS from xbox like usual and when I go to start accessing the folder where my videos are stored I get a little load circle for a while before I eventually get a message saying no videos found. I go back to my computer and I have a message saying that Java has stopped working. I get the option to close the program or let Windows attempt to find a solution and then close it. No matter what option I choose UMS closes and I receive no further information. The only information I'm able to get is the bug report from the close program or find solution window.

I've attempted to find a solution, some of which involve changing the DEP options to exclude the problem file. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Java along with with uninstalling/reinstalling UMS with no success. I removed the registry values for Java and completed erased it from my computer then reinstalled. Everything worked fine yesterday and since then I haven't installed or changed anything. I did a system restore to a previous day when I know everything worked. I've run malware and virus protection software. Nothing has fixed the problem. No matter what I do whenever I start UMS and get to the same screen I will receive a Java crash. Though for a little while during trouble shooting I wouldn't receive an error, UMS would just close, its back to showing a java crash now. I can't get a debug log off of UMS since as soon as the problem occurs I get stuck on the find solution or close program window and doing anything there closes UMS. According to the Java website my java is running correctly. I have java version 7 update 17 and the latest version of UMS. I've also tried different version of Java and UMS.
I would appreciate any help or direction in fixing this problem.
