Multiple issues with UMS 2.6.2 (and 2.6.1)

Hi,

since UMS 2.6.1 I have had issues in multiple areas. Below you can find my 4 main issues. The first and second one are a problematic, for the other two there are workaround. Not being able anymore to look at my photos is really annoying anyway...

My serve is Dual core e8400 3ghz, Asus P5Q-EM, 4gb of ram , Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. My render is a PS3

Issue is related browsing images.

I go the the PICTURE entry in mys PS3, I browse my folder and nothing happens on the PS3. Sometimes the server crashes. The LOG uis full of JAVA HEAP SPACE out of memory erros. If I start UMS via the BAT file sometimes it hangs moving forward on pictures, so I have to go back to menu, slip some photos, then start to browse again

This started as far as I remember with 2.6.0.

Issue related to playing an MP4 file

I downloaded this Trailer for RIPD movie

From here

If I use MENCODER as default, I start it, I see the green trailer screenshot and then I start to hear sound in background but image is still, even if the timer on PS3 is moving back and forth from 0:00 to 0:02.
The same happen if I transcode it using TSMUXER.
Everything fine with FFMPEG.

VLC reports it has
VIDEO: H264-MPE-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1), 1920x804,
Audio: MPEG AAC )mp4a= 3F2R-LFE, 48khz

MENCODER not playing sound on files with multiple audio tracks and DVD rip

If I play files with multiple audio track, mencoder is not able to play any track. I see video and not audio. If I ask for details on PS3 I see the MPEG video stream but no entry for Audio stream at all.
To play audio stream I have to manually go intro transcode and choose "not encoding°. This doesn't happen always.

I have issues with single AVI files with these details in VLC
VIDEO: MPEG-4 (xvid), 640x480
AUDIO1: audio, codec A52 (aka AC3) (a52), 3FR2/LFE
AUDIO2: audio, MPEG Audip layer 1/2/3 (mpga)

and this DVD VIDEO_TS folder with
VIDEO: MPEG-1/2 Video (mpegv)
AUDIO1: audio, codec A52 (aka AC3) (a52), 3FR2/LFE
AUDIO1: audio, codec A52 (aka AC3) (a52) (stereo)

I DON'T have issues with this kind of file
VIDEO: H264-MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1), 1280x544, languageç English
Audio: codec A52 (aka AC3) (a52), channels: 3FR2/LFE, Language: Italiano, 48khz
Audio: codec A52 (aka AC3) (a52), channels: 6, Language: ENGLISH, 48khz, DESCRIPTION: AC5 DD 5.1

In audio Settings I have as audio language priority: ita,eng

ISSUE in finding subs

I haven't had so far issues in finding subtitles for a tv series. But, looking in the live subtitles for

Once.Upon.A.Time.S02E03.720p.WEB-DL.x264-mRS

I download only wrong subs for "THE AWAKENING" (The.Awakening.2011.PAL.DVDR.english.srt zip)

I cannot attach the debug (max is 3), but the offeding lines are

On the issue on Mencoder, I tried today to rip a DVD with Handbrake.

FIle has issues with Mencoder and TSmuxer, meaning that I hear audio but video is not progressing (still on first frames). FFMPEG is OK.

I saw in some threads that Mencoder has been updated to support newest CPUs, could this be the issue with my dual core E8400?

Hi Sergio :)

First issue is related to the latest Java update. Rollback to 7u17 to fix it.
Second issue sounds like it's being caused by UMS incorrectly detecting that the file is compatible with the PS3.
Third and fourth issues I'll look into the logs before addressing.

Hi,

just installed 2.6.3 but all issues are still there, a part for the photo browsing which is disappeared reverting to the previous Java release as you suggested

I also tried to install Mencorder from the distribution you did to solve this issue

hoping that I had the same problem with my old CPU but no joy.

Hello,

just installed version 2.6.5 and all issues a part from the one on browsing photos related to jre are still there.

Furthermore, it seems to me I need more frequently to shut down and restart UMS and sometimes I have to do that with my pc; it is like after a while something goes corrupt and I start to have skips whilst playing videos, even if I don't do a search or ffwd. Moreover, playing 1080p material requires to close all other software running on the PC. Finally, sometimes I find that UMS has shut down naturally and I have to start it again...

I haven't raised the issue any more but the more we go on the less UMS seems to be stable and troubles are still there.

I don't know if it is related to CPU optimizations for latests processors, I can't afford to upgrade my server only to keep the pace of optimizations...

Is that possible to have a branch for older cpus or to activate them only if a newer processors is found?
