Best way to stream to Chromebook?

I know there is the web interface, but is there a smoother way? On my Samsung TV I can fast forward relatively smoothly as it connects straight to the TV from the desktop. Is there a way to get a direct connection with my Chromebook? Using the web interface on Chromebook makes it where I can't fast forward and it feels not as smooth as with the TV.
